Default Rad Red Dye or "glowing dye" Another Scam

There are two players going around and trying to sell "glowing dyes." Can someone tell me how I can properly report these people? I have screen shots showing them trying to sell their fake dyes for 1k and 999.

That is real sad that people have to scam. Wait, call it what it is CHEATING. I have given more away then sold to people. Call me Stoopid...but I like to have fun. I have given away dyes all the time. Now Silver is one I want to collect. I have given away leather, scales, linen, etc. Weapons, Runes, etc I have sold at a fair price. No need to be greedy...it is only a game. I enjoy stunning players by being generous. Hopefully it will catch on.

It's getting silly in pre-searing ascalon now, dozens of people trying to get the noobs to sell them dye for a few gold. I warned the noobs in chat and said these people were scam artists, and one of the scammers called me a liar, because "black only cost at most 200 gold post-searing". LOL!

If you spot a scam or someone doing something blatantly against the Rules of Conduct (i.e. promoting out of game websites, harrassment or abuse of players in towns, illegal activities, etc..) go to Guild Wars Support and file a report.

You will probably have to register with the site, but if something really needs reported then it is worth it.

Just had a bad experience with an individual trying to sell a "Gold dye" for 2k. He stated that the dye was Black + Silver + Yellow and that it was a great deal!
Well, when I called him out on it in public chat, things became very interesting. I explained to him that Yellow(150g) + Orange(150g) =! Gold(2,000g) , so he told me that it was the former B+S+Y combination. I then told him Black(3,300g - now 3,700g last time I checked) + Silver(700g) + Yellow(150g) =! Gold(2,000g)
Well the scam turned to whisper spam, so now I have this kid on multiple breaches of the RoC instead of just 1. Reporting this kid as I speak. Just giving everyone a concurrent report on Dye scams as of today: They are still going on. I suggest ANet could have a list underneath the Mixed dyes of what is actually in it, that way these scams are broken and lay dying in a scammer's inventory.

I pulled a drop scam on someone the other day. The trade window wasnt working, so I asked him to come outside and we would walk about 50 paces from eachother, drop our stuff, then walk to the middle.

Everything worked out fine for me. His inventory was full, so he couldnt get his item. Unfortunately for him, Im a N/W. Sprinted over and grabbed my dye, did a lil dance, then dropped it again. After that, I explained to him "Not everyone is just gonna do a silly dance at your expense, then return the goods. Do Not Trade Goods Out Doors By Dropping. Es un Naughty No No". After a good laugh and a farewell, I discovered that helping the world, one nooby at a time, is not quite as gratifying as I'd hoped.

At least he overpayed. : D

If you don't know where to get them crafted it's not a scam.

Another scam sort of...

Someone replies to your trade info and offers the amount you asked for it. After its in the window they say, "sorry I thought it was this and that" then offers half the amount for it.

This happens to me every time in LA. I've sold enough there to start remembering the names of these people and have seen them try it on me again and again.

Be stubborn and they'll move on.

They closed down my thread so I copy my case here.
I just had a very unpleasant situation in GW. I met a guy in Ascalon (Bancario Precario) who wanted to sell a sup. vigor rune. I met him at storage and there he shows me the sup. vigor rune, I pay him the offered price (30k) and then he cancels the trade (he refered to it as "lag"), afterwards he opens the trade window again and I accept. When I checked my inventory afterwards I see that he sold me a minor vigor rune instead of a sup. and that I spend all my cash on such rune. I know sure this wasn't his first case of abuse AND CERTAINLY not his last. He doesn't answer the messages I send. I just lost 30k and I "worked" for that a full month or more. Is it possible to do anything about this abuser? I just want my money back from him nothing more.
I tested him out afterwards on my brothers account and he does the exact same thing (you can even test it out yourself), he shows you the rune and then he closes the window ("due to lag") and when the window pops up again, there is a minor vigor rune.
Maybe some of the forum members can talk in to him and convince him to give me my money back (maybe if not 1 but 50 guys talk to him he will listen at last)
I also posted a mail to the GW community email service and also a complain on the GW contact page.
I hope some of you can talk to him and bring him to reason

Thx in advance,
Ascended Sleeper

Not really a scam....taking someone's gold for a good or service that is not needed, or useless, defined that way I guess it could be.

In pre-sear Ascalon, there was a person spamming for 'guide' services. Pay me XX gold and I'll take you here or do this mission with you. I just think of it as a scam because:
1. most missions (especially there) have green arrows and are easy for 1 person.
2. it takes away from people teaming up for a mutual need.
3. who's to say he didn't just take the gold and run?

Try again from your brother's account and give him 30 gold for the minor rune...

Seriously guys, charging "too much" for something isn't a scam. The seller is free to charge whatever he wants, he doesn't have to sell, and the buyer doesn't have to buy.

Technically preying on noobs in pre-searing, getting them to sell their dye for 10-20 gold, isn't scamming either, but it sure is dishonest.

Bait-and-switch like happened to Ascended Sleeper is a clear scam, and he should report it to anet.

Really, people, check before you accept - Always! Why be in such a hurry? It takes 1 second to hover your mouse cursor over the item in trade! If you then notice that the scammer has switched items, call him out! Make fun of him in the public and/or the trade channel.

I mean, if you were out looking to buy a car, and the salesman showed you a nice lamborghini and told you it's gonna cost you $175k, you are damn sure going to check the invoice to make sure it doesn't say "1974 AMC Pacer" before you sign the deal.

Heres a new scam for you guys.

Someone was shouting in Lions Arch selling an "unsalvaged sigil," and charging 50k. He made a PvP char called "A Silver Sigil" so it said "Customized for A Silver Sigil." He tried to make us pay 1/2 up front so be careful

Not necessarily new, as i believe someone else mentioned something similar the other day regarding a Sigil. I think the name may have changed though.
Can't remember where. May even be in this very thread.

another one is when people take a unid rune, and compare it to a sup of the same type and they try to sell it.

Default Guild Wars scamming biz

yeah this scamming biz on rpgs are nothing new at all. I remember back in the Diablo 2 days "FREE SOJS MEET IN CHANNEL FOR FREE DUPE OR SOJS" then some guy would ask for a "rare" item and u would give it to him/her and that person would just walk away with it. Of course at the time you couldnt report to game officials because YOU were part of the scam wanted to get a dupe of an item considered "cheating" on most part on the aspect of the game. So obviously that makes you no worse than the person that stole your item
But scamming i have heard of many people getting scammed on channels and public guild chat complaining about his/her loss. of course im not saying you shouldnt be posting this, just that this scamming biz on rpgs have been around since ive been playing Cammy, EQ, and of course diablo 2.

I registered just to say this.
This is for all the people that made suggestions about modifying the game. i.e. Making text different colours, increasing the size of the trade window, etc...

Modify the game to help protect you from scams? I have a better idea for you...

Don't be lazy and/or stupid and not check items you trade for. The game is designed so that you have to submit, then accept. Once you click accept, the responsibility is 100% yours. No one clicked the accept button but you.

Stop blaming others or suggesting the game be modified....
